Knowing what skin care essentials and makeup to take when traveling maybe challenging. The hard part is knowing what to take. and what to leave home. If we are flying, the last thing we want to do is over-pack our suitcases. The airlines charge for over-weight luggage not to mention having to lug it around.

Here are tips on some travel skin care essentials you should take with you:
  • An absolute necessity is a sunblock of at least SPF 30. This is especially important if you travel to sunny areas.
  • Remember to include a lip balm with SPF 15 or better as part of your skin care necessities. This not only keeps the skin around the lips protected it can also be used to protect the fragile skin around the eyes in an emergency.
  • Besides sun exposure, our skin is subject to other environmental dangers. Exposure to chlorine in the swimming pools, the drying affects of salt water on the skin, and the chapping from hot dry winds is extremely irritating to the skin. A moisturizer cream that includes 1 percent hydrocortisone will soothe the skin.
  • Take or buy a pair of flip-flops or other footwear to use when walking on the sand. This may not sound like an essential but we may want to dig our toes into the warm inviting sand but remember that sand may contain animal feces and other not so nice things like parasites. Oh, and don't forget to rinse you feet after being on the beach.
  • Make sure you have a skin-hydrating spray. Use it while flying to offset the dry air in the plane or any where else you skin begins to feel dry. It keeps your skin hydrated.

What do we take for travel makeup? Thankfully our cosmetic bag does not have to include every bit of makeup we own.

Here is a list of travel makeup essentials:
  • a liquid tinted cream-based all-in-one color for cheeks and lips.
  • a black eyeliner. This can be used in place of eye shadows.
  • a bronzer that is slightly darker than your natural skin tone.
  • a tinted moisturizer that has an SPF of 15 or more.

These just suggestions of some skin care essentials that you would want to take. Deciding what travel makeup is essential because eliminating non-essential makeup helps free up space in our suitcases for other necessities like clothes, etc. Once these decisions have been made, just sit back and get ready enjoy your vacation.
