Research: The Connection Between
Our Genes and Skin Aging
Recent skin
research has shown the connection between our genes and skin aging.
This research led to the discover that there is a connection between
genes and skin aging. In fact, we now know that our genes can influence
the way we age. Can this process be influenced by outside factors?
Ever since researchers discovered the
structure of DNA in 1953, knowledge about the human genes continued
to grow so that by 2003 the entire human genome code was known. Due
to that research scientists are now able to link genes to skin aging.
One tenth of the over 20,000 human
genes are
involved in the regulation of 'expression' of the rest of the genes.
The genetic code of a gene is "interpreted" by gene
expression. The challenge for science today to better understand how
gene expressions changes with age and how to externally influence
it.. In other words, can we influence how we age simply by external
factors?
Researchers are capable of
measuring the
aging process at the genetic level and learning how external factors
affect skin aging. Nu Skin is now able to take advantage of that
information and produce products that influence the aging process at
the genetic level.
This is an amazing breakthrough and it has enable Nu
Skin to develop anti-aging skin care products that can slow
and even reverse this aging process.
As skin research continues we will
learn
even more about our genes and how they affect skin aging.
Nu Skin is positioned to take advantage of these
developments to provide a new platform of anti-aging products today and
well into the future.
